Bottom Line: A Business Novel with Exercises
ISBN: 0-030-29311-1
Prepared by Dorothy Marcic, Vanderbilt University
Bottom Line by Dorothy Marcic is an intriguing, contemporary novel about murder, greed and betrayal in the workplace. The novel shows the negative effects upon the workforce of a few common practices of modern management, such as indiscriminate cuts in personnel and budgets, the treatment of workers as a cog in a machine, egotism at the top, and an unrelenting obsession with the quarterly profit picture. Bottom Line synthesizes many true stories from a number of actual companies, and virtually all of the stories and people are real.
