Synopsis of Articles: Security analysts are supposed to provide objective recommendations based on careful and through analysis. However, conflicts of interest arise that may introduce a bias into analysts' recommendations. This article describes the potential conflicts for Jack Grubman, a well-known telecommunications analyst at Salmon. The articles provide an opportunity to discuss how forces may pull on a security analyst, possibly introducing bias into his or her analysis and recommendations. This is a very current topic given the rapid downfall of companies such as Enron and Global Crossing.
