About the Authors
Douglas Hearth University of Arkansas (Ph.D., University of Iowa) Dr. Douglas Hearth is currently a member of the finance faculty at the University of Arkansas where he teaches courses in personal finance and investments. He served as Chair of the Finance Department at the University of Arkansas between 1989 and 1996. Dr. Hearth has also held faculty appointments at the University of Colorado and the University of Iowa. He earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Wisconsin and his masters and Ph.D. at the University of Iowa. Dr. Hearth is the author of Planning Your Financial Future, also published by the Dryden Press. He has published numerous papers in academic and practitioner journals and has served as a consultant to industry and government.
Janis K. Zaima San Jose State University (Ph.D., University Of Washington) Janis K. Zaima is a professor of finance at San Jose State University. Dr. Zaima graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle and has taught at the University of Colorado before coming to San Jose. Currently, she is serving on the City of San Jose Investment Committee and teaches in the executive MBA, MBA, and the undergraduate programs. She has published in the Journal of Finance, Financial Management, Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Fusiness Finance and Accounting, Financial Review, and others. She also serves as a reviewer for these journals. Her research includes areas in divestitures, bond reclassifications, small caps investments, and equity issuances. She has received the San Jose State Roundtable Faculty Achievement Award.
