1. Read "Antitrust Enforcement and the Consumer," prepared by the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice. Write a critique of this on-line pamphlet.

2. What is the Federal Trade Commission and what does it do?

3. Read the textbook's discussion of the Microsoft case. Browse the Web pages of The Center for the Moral Defense of Microsoft and The International Anti-Microsoft Network. Recognize that the points of view expressed on each page are extreme in both directions. Nevertheless, what antitrust issues were associated with Microsoft? Do you believe the government had a case against Microsoft? Why or why not? What should the government have done about Microsoft?

4. Browse the homepage of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). What are the organization's stated goals, which countries are members, and when was it founded? According to your textbook, OPEC has had trouble keeping prices high. Why was that the case? Can you think of any reasons why the members of OPEC might find it difficult to cooperate with each other?
