You might want to print out this topic and then work through it step by step. The first thing you will see when Economics Guide loads is the Login screen. Enter your first name, last name, and password in the areas indicated. If the program doesn't recognize your name or your password, you will be asked to re- enter this information or to indicate that you are a new user. If you are a new user, then you will be asked to verify your name and password before you can complete the login procedure. After you have logged into Economics Guide, the detailed view of your personal Study Log will be displayed. If you are a new user, then there will only be one event -- your log in date and time. The next thing that you should do is to select View and then Quiz from the menu. This will display a blank Quiz screen. Once the Quiz screen is displayed, select Quiz and then New Quiz from the menu. This will display the Topic screen. Click on a chapter (Chapter 1 might be a good place to start.) Notice that the topics in the chapter are displayed. You can generate a quiz for the whole chapter or for any section of the chapter. After you have highlighted the topic you want to be quizzed on, either select Topic and then Select from the menu or click on the Select Topic button. After a few moments, the Quiz screen will be displayed with the first question of your quiz. Answer a question by clicking on an answer (if the question is multiple-choice) or entering the correct numerical value (if the question requires calculations.) If the question displays a graphic, you can click on the graphic to blow it up to full screen and then click it again to shrink it back down again. After you have answered a question, check your answer by either selecting Quiz and then Check Answer from the menu or by clicking the Check button or by double-clicking the answer if the question is multiple choice. A correct multiple-choice answer will be displayed in yellow and, if your answer is incorrect, it will be displayed in red. You can now go on the next question by selecting Quiz and then Next Question from the menu or by clicking the right arrow button. After you have answered some or all of the questions that make up a quiz, you can save the quiz to disk by selecting Quiz and then Save Quiz from the menu. Assign a name to the quiz when prompted to do so. You can retrieve the quiz you just saved by selecting Quiz and then Load Quiz from the menu. When you load a saved quiz or create a new quiz, your existing quiz is ended and your score is recorded in your log file. To return to the Study Log screen, select View and then Study Log from the menu. The Study Log screen will be displayed. Select Study Log and then Update from the menu to display your recent activities. You can display a summary view by either selecting Study Log and then Summary from the menu or clicking the Summary button. Choose the type of summary from the Summary screen and then click OK to display it. If this is your first time with Economics Guide, there won't be much to see, but by the end of your class you'll have a detailed record of your activities. This completes your introduction to the basics of using Economics Guide. More detail is provided in Economics Guide Tutorial Software help files.
