"Networking can be an effective tool in the job search process for new grads. Not only can alumni be contacted who may be of help to new grads in their job search with leads, and other contacts, but professionals in the community where a graduate wishes to work can be approached for assistance in developing a network of local contacts."

"Internships can be found in a number of ways. Often academic departments can be contacted for possible openings. On occasion individual faculty members may also be a resource for leads. Internships which have no well-defined outline of duties can lead to a waste of time for the student. The internship should have a specific person assigned as a supervisor, and an evaluation should be conducted periodically with the student. "

"In the job search process students sometime don't realize the value of alumni. They need to identify alums in the field of their interest with employers of their choice, and make contact with them."
