Downloading
and Unzipping an Executable File (files that have a .exe extension)
To download a self-extracting
zip file, follow the same instructions above.
To unzip the .exe file,
follow these steps:
- Go to Windows Explorer.
- Find the location that was specified to save the file (i.e., C:\TEMP) and double-click on filename.EXE to open it.
- Click OK. This launches WinZip's self-extractor. It will ask you where you want to put the unzipped files. The extractor will suggest placing the files in a default location, which is usually the author's last name_abbreviated supplement name. For example, if the author is Tom Jones and you are downloading the Instructor's Manual - the location name will be C:\jones_im.
- If you would like to keep the default location, click the Unzip button. If you would like to enter a new location, type it in the field provided and click the Unzip button. The files will be unzipped and placed in the folder you specified or in the default location.
