Chapter 3 FICATaxable Wages
In this textbook, an estimated taxable base of $89,700 was used for the OASDI part of FICAtaxes. Even though the actual limit will not be released until the fall of 2002, the Social Security Administration's most current estimate is that the wage base for 2003 will be $87,300.

Chapter 4 Federal Income Tax
The IRS will begin to assess penalties ($50 per W-2) in June 2004 for filing W-2s with incorrect name and social security number combinations. This will apply to the forms filed for the tax year 2002.
